Case Study 9 -
Architectural Roof Terrace
We were contacted by our clients to transform the roof terrace of their architect designed house. The roof space is entered via a glass and hardwood timber pod so part of our brief was to match this colour.
The scheme consisted of deck flooring throughout with an upper raised level for the seating area. For this, we chose 19x90mm Balau hardwood decking. Bespoke seating and matching planters were constructed from Tricoya together with a privacy back panel.
The perimeter was surrounded with existing glass balustrade which had a simple verticle slot detail. This detail was echoed in the custom made planters & benches.
To add height and define the seating area we fitted a hardwood timber structure which matched the colour of the pod precisely. Simple box planting with Olive trees, grasses and Cordyline complete the look. Around the other side of the entrance pod, we built a large feature planter and used Acer griseum - the paper bark maple which has amazing stringy cinnamon coloured bark. LED lighting technology also features throughout.
The property also has a lower narrow roof space which was transformed with matching materials. This was accessed from the house below and visible from inside the living room.
